WHAT THIS ROLE DOES:

The Retail Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational efficiency of all retail locations within their assigned region. This role leads a team that ensures the smooth running of all retail processes, from inventory management and transaction processing to new store openings and operational projects. The Retail Operations Manager works closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring that all operational aspects, including training, stock management, and logistical support, are executed seamlessly to achieve sales and service goals.

Operational Excellence & Process Management
  • Oversee the smooth operation of all retail processes, including inventory control, stock management, and transaction processing.
  • Lead the team to troubleshoot issues related to payment processing, discounts, returns, and product availability, ensuring operational efficiency at all levels.
  • Ensure adherence to operational policies and procedures, conducting regular audits to ensure compliance with company standards.


Team Leadership & Development
  • Manage a team of Retail Operations Coordinators, ensuring high performance, development, and alignment with company goals.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide coaching and training to develop the team's skills, and foster a high-performance culture.
  • Lead the implementation of best practices, ensuring the retail team operates effectively and efficiently across all locations.


New Store Openings, Refurbishments & Pop-Ups
  • Oversee the opening and closing of retail stores, ensuring all logistical aspects are handled, including stock setup, POS system installations, and training.
  • Collaborate with the Retail Planning and Visual Merchandising teams to ensure new stores, pop-ups, and refurbishments are executed to a high standard.
  • Ensure smooth integration of operational systems and processes for new stores, minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency.


Supplier & Stakeholder Management
  • Liaise with suppliers, logistics teams, and external vendors to ensure timely delivery of products and services across retail locations.
  • Monitor stock levels, liaise with suppliers to ensure timely product replenishment, and address any supply chain issues that may arise.
  • Work with other teams (Sales, Marketing, and Education) to ensure alignment on promotional activities, product launches, and sales campaigns.


WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESFUL IN THIS ROLE:

  • Leadership & People Management: Proven ability to manage and lead teams, develop talent, and drive a high-performance culture.
  • Operational Expertise: Strong knowledge of retail operations, including stock management, financial reconciliation, and logistical coordination.
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making: Ability to address complex operational issues quickly, with a focus on practical and efficient solutions.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects, including new store openings and refurbishments, from planning to execution.
  • Collaboration Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across different functions and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to manage large volumes of data, maintain accurate records, and ensure high levels of operational efficiency.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years in retail operations or a similar role, with experience in managing large teams or multiple locations.
  • Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with financial reporting, stock management, and logistics.
  • Familiarity with retail management systems is advantageous.
