As an Assistant Manager, you are responsible for supporting the Store Manager in driving store performance by managing daily operations, customer service, and team outcomes. Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager in leading, motivating, and managing the store team to achieve sales, service, and operational objectives in line with store targets.
- Oversee the delivery of a high standard of customer service across the store, responding to customer enquiries and supporting the implementation of service improvement actions where required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products, promotions, and store sales performance to identify opportunities and support commercial outcomes.
- Support the planning and management of store rosters and labour allocation to ensure effective coverage, efficiency, and compliance with company guidelines.
- Assist with day-to-day store operations including opening/closing procedures, operational routines, and compliance with company standards.
- Support the organisation and efficiency of stockrooms, ensuring compliance with company standards and health and safety requirements.
- Manage and support the receipt, preparation, replenishment, and stock flow processes to ensure product availability and efficient shop floor operations.
- Support store ordering and replenishment activities in accordance with company standards and guidelines to maintain product availability.
- Ensure the effective processing of sales transactions, exchanges, and refunds in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Manage and support visual merchandising standards across the store in line with company guidelines and brand standards.
- Conduct regular team briefings to communicate priorities, sales targets, and operational updates.
- Monitor store performance measures (sales, hours, productivity, and expenses) and support the implementation of action plans to achieve business objectives.
- Provide training, coaching, and day-to-day support to team members to build capability and performance.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and induction activities in collaboration with Store Management and People/HR.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with company policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements.
- Maintain awareness of retail industry trends, product performance, and competitor activity.
- Complete operational reporting and administrative tasks to support store management decision-making.
- Support performance management processes for team members, including feedback and conflict resolution, in collaboration with Store Management and People/HR.
- Assist with stocktakes and sales preparation activities in line with operational requirements and company procedures.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace environment aligned with company values.
- Diploma-level qualification with at least two years of relevant work experience, or a minimum of three years' relevant experience in retail or assistant management.
- Proven experience supporting team leadership in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrated experience in stock management, visual merchandising, and supporting sales performance outcomes.
- Ability to plan, organise, and oversee day-to-day operational activities in line with business objectives.
- Commitment to delivering high standards of customer service, operational excellence, and compliance with company policies.
- Availability to work full-time (38 hours per week) on a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
